COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY IN Belfast & Online | Support for anxiety, overwhelm and low mood

Jenny Parks Counselling

Considered Listening. Connection. Hope.

You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck or unsure how to move forward. I work with adults to understand what’s going on and support you to make meaningful changes in how you feel, think and live your life.

About me

I provide a a calm, supportive space where you can take time to explore your experience at a pace that feels manageable.

My approach is relational and collaborative. What does that mean? It means I listen carefully, helping you better understand how your thoughts and feelings may be affecting your daily life. Many people I work with find that, over time, things begin to make more sense and they're able to think about their situation in a clearer, more grounded way.

I feel people already have the capacity for positive change, even when it doesn't feel that way. Therapy can help you reach a place where you feel steadier, more confident, and better able to manage what life brings.

In my practice, you can explore things honestly and without pressure. While some my training has included a Christian perspective, I work with people with all backgrounds and beliefs in a way that's always led by you.

I'm a fully registered and accredited member of the BACP and work in line with professional and ethical standards.

What to expect from working together

I appreciate that starting therapy can feel like a big step, so I aim to make the process clear and straightforward from the beginning.

Initial contact

We begin with an initial consultation, usually a phone call, where you can share a little about what's bringing you to therapy and ask any questions you may have. This is also a chance for you to get a sense of how I work and whether it feels like a good fit.

First Session

In our first session, we take time to explore your experiences and concerns in more depth. We begin to understand what feels most important to you and what you would like to get from therapy.

Ongoing Sessions

In ongoing sessions, we work together at a pace that feels right for you.

We continue to build an understanding of what's been influencing how you think and feel and how this shows up in your life and relationships. Things usually begin to feel clearer at this point and you may feel better able to face and manage what's going on.

We'll regularly check back with your original motiviations and goals for therapy so that you have a clear appreciation of your progress.

A flexible, collaborative approach

I draw on a range of approaches and adapt how I work depending on what you need. Our time together is shaped around you, rather than following a fixed structure, and I gently maintain a clear sense of direction towards your goals.

For this reason, there is no pressure to commit to a set number of sessions and, as we review things together as we go, we make sure the work continues to feel helpful and relevant.

Navigating Challenges

The difficulties and challenges that lead someone to seek out professional counselling are wide and varied. Complex challenges affect us all at various stages of life, and therapy can provide a judgement-free, empathetic space that can help us process, cope, change and even grow in such times.

Is counselling for me?

Therapy can help us remember, rebuild and restore our incredible strength and capacity for resilience in the face of life's struggles.
